The Illinois watch company like most American manufactures of timepieces,
labored through a series of ownership and management incarnations. 1869
saw the birth of the the Illinois Springfield Watch company comprised of a
staff of men with proven mechanical and management ability. After a half
century of creating some the most desirable pocket watches on the American
market, they began preparing to release what has become known as the most
artistic and desirable line of mechanical jeweled wrist watches every made in
the western word. I specialize in Illinois wrist watch servicing and vintage
Illinois wrist watch restoration. Enjoy a few of the photos of these great Illinois
wrist watch I've restored over the past few years. I'll save room on this page
for your Illinois wrist watch after I give it the servicing and repairs that any
vintage mechanical Illinois watch deserves.
Early 1920's Illinois wrist watches were created by using the high-quality
smaller sized pocket watch movement - housed in wrist watch cases made
by an off-site manufacturer. These early Illinois wrist watches are finely
constructed and desirable. The late 1920's Illinois wrist watches were
unique in that the company had complete design control of their own case
and dial compositions- which resulted in a line of wrist watches unlike any
other manufacturer before or since. Their artistic geometry, flowing designs,
inventive numeral art, smart art-deco designs and often 2 tone cases are
as popular today as ever.
